Re: Upgrading to OnStepX

This one is super easy. Modify the files that came with v10.04f. Don't use older versions, Howard is not doing any strict version checks with OnStepX.

Of course, I have never done this.

Is this a WiFi SHC or with a cable?
If it is WiFi, then you MUST use SWS 2.x (main branch), otherwise
the port used (9996) would not match.

Upgrading to OnStepX

Ken Hunter

OnStep MaxESP3, my SHC variant, LV8729 Drivers, SWS 1.0a all working OK with no issues. (5 MaxESP3 builds on the bench)

First mod... Installed TMC2130 drivers (adjusted Config.h for these with small issues) no problems with SHC connecting, Bluetooth and Wifi not checked.

2nd Mod... Downloaded and installed OnStepX on the first MaxESP3. Worked my way through the AUX2 and AUX8 differences and errors by changing the options on the PinMap, Config and ConfigX.h files. My firmware uploads are without error messages but the SHC does NOT connect now even after going through the config files a couple of times. Without the SHC connecting, I can't continue troubleshooting or configuring.
I'm attaching the PinMap, config and ConfigX files and hopefully someone here can see what I am doing wrong. I am very sure that it's firmware as I can plug in an ESP32 with 4.24k3 and all works OK as before.

Can you spot the error causing the SHC to fail to connect?

Just the dew heater and intervalometer control parameters.

Working great and a nice addition.

I had the units char reversed C in Fah and F in Cel, silly typo.

I have not yet attempted to figure out why the :SX command isn't setting the values.

Making progress...

The transition from the dew heater name to the zero/span menu is instantaneous now and the controller values are being displayed. But the temps are displayed as F instead of C as they are on the web page and the changed value is not set in the controller.

Might add code to potentially speed that up if I feel like it.

I have no plans to address that.

The name of my feature is shown ("Dew 1") centered in the screen, then the value (e.g. 50%).
But there is a "feature 1" preceding that value. Is that necessary? I guess it may be of value
when someone has lots of them and wants to see which one in the config maps to the feature
in question. But for 2 or 3 features? Maybe not.

Again: this does not warrant a change. It is just an observation.
Yes, I realize and debate the value of that also.

One other observation, either from yesterday's push, or today's, can't be sure which,
but it is slightly different behaviour from before.

After the SHC says "Connection OK" it hangs in there noticeably for several seconds
before displaying the main screen. It used to be faster.

Nothing that warrants a change. Just noting it in case it is not intended.

Re: Pull request for Spiral Search and Switch support on SHC

I tested yesterday after the initial push to git of Spiral Search and Features, and then again
today after the latest push.

My only feature is a passive dew controller (ANALOG_OUTPUT), and it works as intended in
both cases.

The double press menu shows "Dew 1", and the two function buttons increase and decrease
in 10% increments. What I see matches what the web interface shows.

So all works from what I see for ANALOG_OUTPUT.

Two nitpicks:

- There is no (obvious?) way to just see what the value is without increasing it or decreasing it.
The workaround is to press the increase button then decrease button, to keep it the same as it is.

- When pressing the double press menu, there is some redundant info:

And that is why we test. Just to see where things are. Speaking of which, I assume that L_us is still just a future addition? When you get to it, it would be nice if it was applied to the SWS Aux function screen also.

Like I said, just a glance, so not surprised.

Re: Pull request for Spiral Search and Switch support on SHC

I gave it a try...

My 3 dew heater features appear in the settings menu but when I select the first, it takes about 6 seconds for the submenu to come up and when I select either the zero or span entry, the values shown are not the ones in effect at the controller (which is showing on a web server Aux page on my PC). The SHC shows +10.0 for both which I guess is a default? Also, if I change a value on the SHC it does not change in the controller and is back to displaying +10.0 when reentering the menu.
