The 66 cent solution. ESP01 Programmer USB/UART Adapter. A buck more from Jeff Bezos with Prime. I've tried to program through the Teensy and ESP32 w/o success. A lot less pain with the adapter. Use the SWS, ESP8266 Board manager and Generic ESP8266 Module from the popout menu.
