And there's another, better way for those with Teensy's...

The latest master branch now has support for dual and triple serial.  Enable the option and OnStep will compile to use them.  Does exactly what the name implies puts 3x virtual serial ports on a single USB interface:

If you still need some digikey has them in stock but mouser is currently out. I had to make a separate order from digikey to complete my mouser BOM order.

INDI Output tab

mail.tibor.kiss@...

Hi,

just some background, I have just created my first OnStep based on MaxPCB design with Teensy 3.6, but I made a custom PCB, yesterday I have made the first tests, works great.
I am planning to upload you some description how I modified my EQ5 mount.

Yesterday when I had successful connection to INDI, I have seen that it has options to switch ON/OFF some outputs.
My plan was to create a Power Output Shield for Rpi (because I am using Astroberry) and switch the powers for the different modules, equipments, like dew heater, CCD cooler and so on.
But when I have seen the Output tab in INDI, my idea was to build a power distribution extension for OnStep.

So far I did not found here in Groupsio how it is planned to use that Output Tab, what I have found that is planned through the Wifi addon, should that work with the MaxPCB as well?
Or do you plan to have I2C port expander?

Could you please give me some Info, what is the plan, or how this output tab should work?
I am really interested because my biggest problem is the power distribution for all the equipments.
If you need help I can help in HW design, ( I am professional HW developer with 16 years professional experience, 12 years in automotive area) if this output feature is not yet tested I can also help you to do some tests.

I'd call it the non-common pin side, but yes if it'll fit it'll work.  It (the 5-pin one) is also not required at all except if using the ST4 pass-through port.

Sourcing parts/kits in Europe: STM32 Blue Pill & SHC

dougslife@...

Hello everyone,

Newbie here, planning an STM32 Blue Pill with SHC conversion for my GP-DX. Thank you very much for all the information here. I'm reasonably confident of an eventual successful outcome once I get started - and you may well see me here again asking more questions along the way...

Before I go ahead and start ordering the required components from a number of different suppliers, all with various postage costs and delivery times, my first question is whether anyone is thinking of offering kits in Europe again something soon? Or maybe less formally, does anyone have a pile of the required components they don't need? Asking because if I go ahead with my purchases, soon I will have a stock here that I won't need, but I'm not (yet) the one who will be taking the lead an offering them!

For example, looking for a joystick switch for the SHC, I see that they are easy to get and cheap - as long as one buys 10 at a time. Or by ordering a few more components than needed, the 50 Euros minimum for free shipping at Mouser would be reached. PCBs seem cheap enough as a first time buyer, but still, I'll have more than I need, so some to give away. I'm based in Portugal by the way.

That's it for now. Have a great day!

Douglas

Hello,
There is this solution that I tested successfully last night.
http://com0com.sourceforge.net/

The right parameters for "com0com" and "hub4com":

COM3 is my Com port of CHG340-MKS Gen-L v2.0

-Create Virtual port with com0com :
   COM9 > CNCB0
   COM10 > CNCB1

-Launch hub4com
hub4com.exe --baud=9600 --octs=off --route=All:0 --route=0:All \\.\COM3 \\.\CNCB0 \\.\CNCB1

-Now, i can configure "Poth Setup" with the "Scope Connection" on COM9 and "Focuser Connection" on COM10.

Ok here it is, please see the video manual if you have questions, but I think its pretty straight forward.

Let me know what you guys think!

"TeleViz" - is almost ready for beta release!

I finished up some file saving stuff today (playing hookie from work), and I belie everything is 100% ready.  I have add the ability to swap between 4 telescope layouts. They are all saved in a single config.ini file that can be renamed / shared, ect.

I have tried to make it VERY easy to use, and it is 100% configurable (right down to every color of every object).

Considering I started it last Friday morning, and spent Friday night observing, I don't think its too bad for a few days of hard work.  But I'm sure there are still a lot of little things that will pop up and bugs to get squashed. This is still just what I would consider the beginning for what I want to do.....aka texture mapping to make parts look real, and contact detection (which I think will be fun to do but have gotten sidetracked with stupid colors and inputboxes).

Anyway, the core is done, hopefully people will find it useful.

I am making a video tutorial for this tonight, and then I will post everything probably tomorrow.

That pressing Home was a test, not a fix.  The latest master branch (and release-3.16) are patched against what I think the issue is now.  Nothing in your description of the steps taken above excludes the possibility of this working.  Since I can't replicate the problem here I can't be sure though.

Please do get back to work on the AP1200 though.  :)
That'll definitely be in the running for the nicest OnStep driven mount I know of and it'll be nice to see what the performance is like.

"Specially that colourful box! "

There's something smile inducing that instead of using blue tape as a surface to 3d print a plastic box, he directly wraps the same tape to bind up a simple cardboard box.

Rockmover,

Thanks for sharing this. The video for it is quite impressive.

Did you mean DirectX 11, or directly in X11?
The former is Microsoft only. The latter is cross platform, and can work on Linux.

Sound fairly long to me. I use a lot of 136mm and an occasional 140. I prefer 48:16 tooth pulleys. A photo of you set up will help.
