Characterizing NEMA17 stepper motor/driver micro-stepping accuracy
PID tuning can be easy or a real pita (a lot has to do with how good the feedback is and the time to get feedback), could be 10 minutes or 10 days :) I understand the benefit of having a smooth output

Closed loop Stepper
I like the ribbon style cable verse lose wires connecting the two, should help with noise.

I totally agree, a well managed open source project can do incredible stuff in a short period of time. I starting flying drones (quadcopters) for about 10 years now, they flew, but had all kinds of is

Hi thomas, I quickly looked at your mount, wow, very very nice. What I did not see was if it's ASCOM compatible. Skytrack now does ASCOM and a few others interfaces: ASCOM LX200 (and compatible LX200G

Seems the cal is for temp comp, not magnet mis-alignment. I dont see any recess in the magnet to help center it? Quickly skimming the datasheet https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/196/Infineon-TLE5012B

I think the ci-700 is 180 tooth, not 360 like the g11 is?

Precision of Geared Motors
A decade plus ago with the G11/Gemini setup, quite a few of us tested the McLennan gearbox (back then they were $12ea then) and they were definitely a step up over the stock gear box (pempro peak freq

Trackins satellites with maxESP?
Sorry, I dont have a direct answer to your question, but a bit of information. I use this program, its simply awesome, seeing the ISS at 94x and 176x and the scope doing the tracking is amazing. https
