Slew problem
I don't think RA running slower when cables are swapped indicates a cable problem, simply that one driver is driving more slowly than the other for some reason. Since it works fine with BT and the App

Does a Sync add to model, or is it equivalent to 1-star alignment?
I read through the above posts, but from the discussion it is not clear to me what Sync does. It is clear it does not refine the model, but what does it do? I thought that after an Align is completed,

When you say "I join the wifi of the WEMOS" does that mean you selected "Add network" on your phone and entered "OnStep" for the SSID? It needs the SSID as well as the IP address to connect.

How to align Alt Az mounts, an Issue on the Wiki regarding aligning Alt-Az mounts
Thanks Howard. My mount is working ok, I'm just curious as to the advantage of having the home position with Alt = 0. I found this under "Configuration (config.h)/Mount Type": Notes: The Home Position

How to align Alt Az mounts, an Issue on the Wiki regarding aligning Alt-Az mounts
My alt-az mount doesn't go to 0 deg alt, only to +18 deg. I made that compromise to fit it into my car. The seeing is usually very poor below 20 deg so I figured I didn't loose much. I didn't anticipa

Backlash was the reason I ask about the mechanism for applying normal force for the friction drives. Looks like you did a great job! I would evaluate performance for a while before you consider adding

Beautiful work on both the mount and the CNC! What mechanism do you use to apply normal force between the friction drive shaft and the disk to achieve sufficient friction force?

Yes, that worked fine from the get go John, but I wanted to use the App. Some nights I don't connect to the scope with SF at all. Just use it to look up objects, then look them up in OnSteps catalogs

If I establish a new connection with Bluetooth and start up OnStep I can tap "Menu" aka "Options" (3 dots in upper right screen corner), then tap "Connections" on the pop up list and get this screen:

Question on Interfaces to OnStep
Thanks Mike! I got it to assign IP address 192.168.0.100 after connecting and forgetting 4 times. The OnStep App still does not connect though. I don't see where to change the port. Don't see anything

If you use a thread locking compound such as Locktite, use the soft set (blue) rather than the hard set (red), as the latter is permanent - you won't be able to loosen the screw.
