Book about arduino programming?

I'd like to understand a lot more about OnStep:
are there any recommended books on arduino programming,
particularly about classes and the more advanced nuances of the subject
that are used here.

If you know C and C++, then Arduino is just another API to program for.
If you don't know C++, and its object oriented programming (OOP), then
there are many tutorials for that on Youtube and the web. Start with those
and play with some examples until you 'get' how classes and objects work.
The rest is straightforward ...
